ISPRS Geospatial Week 2017, waiting for you in China
The biennial GSW2017, hosted by ISPRS, which is known as “the Pulitzer in photographic measurement”, will be held in Wuhan, China in September. Scholars and practitioners from a total of more than 50 countries and regions will be gathering here.
ISPAR Geospatial Week2017 (GSW), which is hosted by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and Wuhan University, co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing, undertaken by 3s news, will be held at the Wuhan East Lake International Convention Center from September 18 to 22, 2017.
ISPRS is known as “the Pulitzer in photographic measurement ” and GSW is its biennial event, so the member states are try their best to compete for the right to host. The Wuhan University team representing China experienced many ups and downs and efforts like the Beijing Olympic bid and finally made it happen in Wuhan.
ISPRS and China are very close. Wuhan University team leader Academician Deren Li have been affectionate memories: “My mentor Zhizhuo Wang participated in the fifth ISPRS congress in Rome, and then he told the story to everyone, so we were all encouraged. The Chinese counterparts learned a lot from ISPRS in the past and this time the GSW is the contribution that we should make to ISPRS.
It is so, this GSW also added a lot of “Chinese elements.” Academician Deren Li said that China has recently been promoting high-resolution earth observation and Beidou navigation system, so GSW is a very rare opportunity to exchange and show. It is learned that ISPRS member states are more than 100, and this year experts and scholars coming to Wuhan will be from at least more than 50 countries and regions.
The core part of the GSW is its comprehensive and forward-looking thematic workshops. It is learned that this conference will focus on the theme “Geospatial For Smart City” and hold 10 seminars and peripheral activities. The world’s most famous experts and scholars will be invited to give keynote speeches in each seminar.
