Presentation: Innovation and Capacity Development of Geomatics

Internet and digital technology have changed the social and economic patterns worldwide. The geospatial industry and the governance of geospatial information have been influenced dramatically. One of the great challenges to all the countries is how to improve the capacity in geospatial information management. The science and technology of geomatics has developed to be a common foundation for all domains, such as precision agriculture, smart industry and intelligent transportation. More and more mobile digital devices are producing massive data even not on purpose. The world needs fast, accurate and real geospatial information services. The United Nations established the GGIM mechanism to promote the capacity building in geospatial information management. China is one of the major driving forces to make the GGIM more functional. Based on the efforts of innovation in Geomatics, China has carried out several key national programs. China is willing to share its experience and technologies with other countries, especially the developing countries.
